Description

Hi,

A system of precache can be usefull on darktable
I would like to see it on both lighthable and darkroom mode.
I can split this feature twice if needed.

1) In lighttable :

actualy only visible thumbmail (on the screen) are create/loaded.
A option to create all can be great to speed-up travel on all images

2) in darkroom :

Preload next (and previous ?) picture. to load them nearly instantly.

We already do preloading of thumbnails that are not in view yet. Loading all of them has been discussed in the past, maybe we will give that a try some day, but it's definitely not a priority. It will probably also need the new scheduler we were thinking about for a long time.

This is most probably not feasible. We have quite high memory requirements, and tripling that (after all you want the raw buffers and not just a preview) will most certainly be too much for most of our users.

Ok, Thanks for the quick feedback, i also think the 1) is the most important. so we can forgot/remove the 2),
So if anyone can change the ticket with Catégorie:'lighttable' (i can't)

I'm understand & agree about it's not a priority (Priority = Low)
