Description

I'm not sure whether the time zone selected when geotagging is just used within this process or if it is associated with the image somewhere in darktable's database. It would be nice to have this information added to the image metadata on export (e.g. to Exif.Image.TimeZoneOffset), so that other tools can make use of it.

The information could also be displayed in the GUI, e.g. as an addition to the datetime field (something like UTC+/-xx:xx).

Currently it is only used for the matching with the GPX track and not stored anywhere. It might be worthwhile considering this. It would probably go with the metadata overhaul since it's not trivial from a UX point of view.

  • System set to all
  • Affected Version set to git master branch

There is no progress on this so far, but I just found that there are some related information in the makernotes of at least Canon cameras: http://dev.exiv2.org/issues/1231
