Description

The keyboard shortcut settings are currently not very intuitive for users who want to find a specific function to be set.

the settings dialogue shows
  • global
  • image operations
  • modules
  • views
    • darkroom
    • lighttable
    • map
    • tethering

This order seems to come from the internal structure of the software, but is hard to grasp.

e.g.:
  • there are modules in all views, so why are there separate trees for each?
  • many/most image operations are set in modules. Why are there separate trees for the shortcuts?
  • most image operations happen in the darkroom (one might easily think). Why are there separate trees for the shortcuts?
  • ...

I suggest simplifying the keyboard shortcut settings in a global section for those shortcuts that work everywhere (or in more than one view) and then either go into modules straight away or have a section for each view (darkroom, lighttable, map, tethering)

I just saw that there is an entry "lighttable" in the "modules" tree of the shortcut settings. :-)
