Description

Lighttable: Set a filter to only show pictures with a rating of at least 1 star.
Switch to lighttable fullscreen mode (Alt+1; Tab). Press r to reject the current image. The rejected image gets hidden (due to the filter setting) and the next image appears. Press 4 to assign a 4-star rating to the currently displayed picture.

The following bug appears: The 4-star rating is assigned to the hidden picture.

Reason: The currently displayed picture doesn't get highlighted auto

This bug is new. In darktable 1.2.0 the currently displayed pciture had been highlighted automatically so that one could assign ratings one after another without clicking on the currently displayed picture all the time.

Sorry, the following part of the ticket text had been cut:

Reason: The currently displayed picture doesn't get highlighted automatically. I have to click on the picture in order to highlight it. Only after highlighting the picture manually the rating gets assigned to the currently displayed picture as expected.

  • Target version set to Candidate for next patch release

I installed darktable 1.2.3 to check whether the bug persists. Unfortunately it does.

The bug described above even occurs when NO filters are applied:

  • Open a collection in lighttable mode
  • Press Alt+1 for full preview
  • Press "arrow right" to advance to the second image
  • Press "5" to assign 5 stars to the SECOND image
  • BUG: The 5 stars get assigned to the FIRST image

As rating images is a required feature for any photo workflow maybe you should put a note on the website that Mac users should work with Darktable 1.2.0 until the bug is fixed.

If you need any further information regarding the bug please let me know!

  • Priority changed from High to Medium
  • Target version changed from Candidate for next patch release to Future

Please don't decide for us in what version something will be fixed. It's not even sure that there is going to be another bugfix release.

I can confirm it (version 1.2.3 on Linux, so it's not OS-dependent of course).
What's happening is simple: when you go to the next image using the arrow key, the next image is not selected, so the action performed through keyboard affect the last selected image.

Workaround: clicking on the current image and then use the shortcut. Quite inconvenient, I know

I cannot reproduce the issue with the Git version with this scenario.

Can you double check with the latest version?

And I cannot reproduce either with the original scenario with Git version.

Without more information we will close this ticket soon.
