Description

I have been trying different denoise functions on various open source raw editing programs to process a rather tricky set of ISO 6400 images.
In-camera jpg can remove the noise successfully. Darktable filters struggle. The one filter I've found which works well is Pyramid denoise as available in Photivo. The difference is substantial and equals or even betters in camera denoise.

Please consider this filter for future releases of Darktable.

I will aim to add an example photo another day.

Did you try all available denoise modules available in Darktable? Particularly profiled denoise?

I tried all the modules including profiled. Profiled makes the chroma noise go all splodgey. I spent some time on Freenode #darktable trying to find a good filter setup. Some of the more experienced members got some results that came close, but to do that they need to stack many filters with complex blending profiles.
