Description

I've noticed that there are no options for adjusting an overlayed images blending mode strength or any blend if parameters, these features, combined with the ability to resize and move the overlay image, would make for a killer professional tool. I know I'll be using them ;) Thanks for the hard work!

Short technical explanation: the overlay isn't processed by the darktable pipe and it isn't using the "real" blending, it just looks like it. Under the hood it uses only cairo for its drawing. I guess we can add a transparency slider for good measure, not sure about blendif though.

Can cairo recognize alpha channels? That would probably be one of the best solutions since I could create a perfectly isolated png and not have any issues with the foreground being transparent. Resizing is also very important. Sometimes you need to take a shot from a longer lens and put it into a wider angle shot, but to do that correctly, it needs to be downsized. Being able resize and reposition would make it very powerful for commercial shooters who are often in a position dealing with that sort of thing.

Unfortunately we are in feature freeze so it won't get into 1.2. However I agree that we should enhance this feature.

Do you (Chris) want to work on this? Otherwise I would set the Assignee to be me.
