Description

There are alot of problems with import from camera, thumbs missing, no exif etc. etc. and
this is due to the approach of using gphoto2 (PTP) for enumerate images for import.

We should replace this with a "import from directory" which easily could display thumbs / exif
and import selected images into darktable storage structure defined by the settings.
This would use system gvfs mounted volumes and support "mounted cameras", sdcard readers
and whatever.

08:03 < dinamic|s> about the camera import
08:03 < dinamic|s> im all good of ripping out the camera PTP import if someone replaces it with a fs import
08:03 < dinamic|s> copy into storage
08:03 < dinamic|s> or move for that sake..
08:04 < dinamic|s> that way we could "import" into storage structure from sdcard / gvfs whatever
08:04 < dinamic|s> have exif support and thumbs for any image
08:04 < dinamic|s> im will not have any time into that issue
08:05 < dinamic|s> but its fairly simple
08:05 < dinamic|s> one could reuse the import dialog
08:05 < dinamic|s> there are small parts that are gphoto2 related
08:05 < dinamic|s> and its just some callbacks
08:05 < dinamic|s> which servers some purpose that could be reused
