Description

When importing some corrupted images (#8607), the lighttable displays them as gray slides with no thumbnail and displays a tooltip (small popup window near the bottom of the thumbnail grid) which rapidly cycles through each of the corrupt filenames saying, "image FILENAME is not available". This is annoying and also indicative of something going on in the background that probably shouldn't be going on.

The solution to this issue is to remove the corrupt image from the database using the UI.

This is fixed in current darktable 1.0rc2. You get nice skulls instead if an image is missing or corrupted.
