Description

JPG files exported from darktable cause a warning to be printed when they are processed by Exiv2 (e.g. geeqie, exiv2):
"Warning: Directory Thumbnail, entry 0x0201: Data area exceeds data buffer, ignoring it."

The version of darktable used to export the test file is 0.8+664~gd5411b9, Exiv2 is version 0.20 on my system.

A sample file is attached.

History

#1 Updated by Markus Jung almost 8 years ago

(At least) in 0.9.1 (Pascal PPA) there is another JPEG export issue, several tools complain about a bad GPS directory in JPEG files generated by darktable

exiftool -ver: 8.15
exiv2 -V: exiv2 0.21.1

exiftool 0001_DSC_0041.jpg | grep GPS

Warning : Bad GPS directory

exiv2 0001_DSC_0041.jpg | grep GPS

Error: Directory GPSInfo: IFD entry 0 lies outside of the data buffer.

The RAW file from which the JPEG image has been created had no GPS information included (at least i didn't include them, no idea what Nikon does if there isn't any GPS device attached).
