Description

Problem:
It's not possible to sync a 'film roll' with metadata changes, made by other applikations (e.g. Digikam), to the xmp sidecar files after first import.

Enhancement:
Add 'button' to sync darktable internal database to changes made at xmp files (tags and rating).

this would be great! especially with digikam 2.0; together they could become the perfect couple

#2 Updated by Simon Spannagel almost 6 years ago

the easiest way to get this is just reimporting the images, then sidecars are read.

We now have code in dt that checks all your xmp files on start and allows you to reload them.

It would be nice to include this option if it's not done yet. It's impossible to find photos missing tags in DT, so I would like to do it with another solution, but it would be nice to reimport the sidecars and new tags.

  • System set to all
  • Affected Version set to git master branch

Not sure I can follow. Do you mean a button "re-read sidecars" that reads the XMP of all selected images? Because, at startup darktable already supports that and even with such a button you really shouldn't edit XMPs while dt is running.
