Description

When I select "rename" option for an iop, the popup box does not appear. I investigated it in the source code and it seems that "foucus-out-event" handler is executed immediately after the popup box is created. I have tested this on two different PCs with the same result. Both PCs run Ubuntu 18.04 with Yaru/Communitheme theme. By the way, the fast tagging (activated by Ctrl-T) has the same problem for me.

Sorry cannot reproduce! Is that on GNOME or some other desktop environment?

#2 Updated by Masoud M 8 days ago

That's the default desktop environment of Ubuntu 18.04 (GNOME3 over xorg). I disabled all my Gnome-shell extensions but still it does not work.

That's strange since I'm also on GNOME Shell desktop. Which version of GNOME / GNOME Shell is there on Ubuntu 18.04?

#4 Updated by Masoud M 7 days ago

The GNOME Shell version is 3.28.3
This is strange for me, too. When I comment out the following line in imageop.c (line 976 in current git master), everything works as expected:

g_signal_connect(entry, "focus-out-event", G_CALLBACK(_rename_module_destroy), d->floating_window);

I think this shows something triggers focus-out-event as soon as the popup window is created. Maybe I can help to find the reason. Is there a way to trace/debug the triggered signals in GTK?

I had the same problem on Ubuntu 18.04, I think it disappeared on Ubuntu 18.10. Also, Gnome with Xorg has some severe memory leaks too on Ubuntu 18.04.

I confirm that 41e3fc8b fixes this issue of rename functionality for me on Ubuntu 18.04 but the same problem still persists for quick tagging (via Ctrl-T).
