Description

I converted Nikon D800 .NEF files into .DNG, in lighttable the preview is correct while in darktable the image has big white squares.
I converted to .DNG with both adobe DNG Converter and Lightroom.
The problem is reflected on both Mac and Windows.
The .NEF files have been converted and examined with the aforementioned software on both Mac and Windows.
If I make a change it is normal that the preview changes

The same .DNG file opened with lightroom does not present any problem on both Mac and Windows

I'm having the same white square image gaps issue with CR2 to DNG using Adobe DNG Converter. Tested multiple versions of DNG Converter, as well as different settings. Certain CR2 photos consistently have the white square problem when converted to DNG. Other DNG files converted from specific CR2 files consistently won't open (skull icon) due to "failed to read camera white balance information." Neither of these problems show when opening from digKam, LightZone, or adobe softwares.

Attached are jpeg files to quicky see the output of darktable vs anything else. Also attached are the original CR2 and subsequent DNG for analysis, if needed.

The only reason I attempted to convert to DNG is because darktable appears to have issues importing CR2 from Canon Powershot S90. The noise is hideous compared to any other viewer that opens RAW CR2 files. Something must be wrong. Here's the related CR2 noise report (and white balance failure example)

Loads fine here with git master, no white squares on DNG, so apparently i fixed that some time ago.

Please contribute proper daylight landscape sample to https://raw.pixls.us/ please :)

Not really. darktable does not apply any noise reduction by default, unlike other software.
So i think the CR2 is imported properly.
