Bug #11986

Some minor GUI annoyances

Added by Mladen Leskovar 9 months ago. Updated 9 months ago.

Affected Version:
2.4.1
System:
Windows
bitness:
64-bit
hardware architecture:
amd64/x86

Description

1. Filter view shows rectangles instead of stars (see Example1a)
2. Preferences: Some "cosmetic" corrections of language selector are needed (see Example2a)
3. Colour labels ovelap with file type labels, which themselves are only partly displayed
(see Example3a). Maybe a smaller font would be better? Probably hair-splitting,
but a nice visual appeal of user interface never hurts :-)
4. History: When list of entries grows enough it's simply truncated, including two buttons named
"compress history stack" and "create a style from the current history stack"
(see Example4a and Example4b). At least these buttons should be visible all the time
(suggestion: maybe a scrollbar in one of the future releases ?)

Thank you!

It seems your system font lacks those glyphs. Which one is that? We could ship a free font, but that would make the rest of the text look different than what the user expects, and it would probably lack characters of some languages that we have translations for.

Yes, those are also wrong in other dropdown lists in the preferences.

3. Colour labels ovelap with file type labels, which themselves are only partly displayed

That is more or less by design, the file type thing is just a faint reminder in the background of the image. Once you crop the image square you can't see the label at all.

4. History: When list of entries grows enough it's simply truncated, including two buttons named

(see Example4a and Example4b). At least these buttons should be visible all the time

Just scroll down the side panel.

Thank you!

Presumably Segoe UI, which is a default system font on Windows 10. BTW, on Windows 7 works just fine.
Obviously a root cause is "incomplete" default system font on Windows 10. Probably not much to do about this.

Fine, it makes sense.

Just scroll down the side panel.

I didn't notice a scrollbar on side panel immidiatelly. Now works perfectly :-)

Thank you once again !
