Description

Hi,

I've spent some time rating and labeling my pictures and after applying it to all of them I realized the sidecar files were not updated. The reason was my user had no write permissions on the external disk. So I would like to suggest darktable to popup a warning message advising the user that darktable was not able to write the sidecar file.

Indeed, I had been hit by this too. Will fix.

Please think it through first, there can be thousands of images/sidecars, just showing a message per each failure will not be a good design.

@Roman, indeed, what do you propose? Sending a dt_control_log() for all pictures will only make the last one visible, but at least it will point to the issue and most probably one directory not readable. Not sure we want to add a complex circuitry in the code for this not so common issue.
