Enable cloud-computing export
As of the end of 2017, the new standard in cameras resolution is 45-50 Mpx for pro-DSLR and 100 Mpx for medium format cameras. Such RAW files require not only a huge amount of RAM but a massive number of cores to export in a decent time.
In the meantime, cloud-computing has become very affordable, making the need of a top-notch computers less relevant. Services like Amazon cloud offer Debian and several other distros ready for use as virtual instances, scallable in size and billed per hour. For most users, bandwidth and connection speed are not an issue anymore.
Being able to send pictures and .xmp parameters to trigger remotely an export, batch export or even a preview, with a Darktable binary installed on a cloud instance or on another computer would be a great improvement toward the future.
This already happened in 3D rendering : https://www.zyncrender.com/

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but can this not already be done using the darktable-cli program?
