Description

I checked an exported JPG with exiftool and the problem seems to be sad the tags are embedded with the value "subject" and not "Keywords". By that the tags (keywords) are not recognized on several online platforms as for instance 500px or NewGenGalleries.

What exif tag does that correspond to? exiftool has the bad habit of not showing the real tag names, so better check using exiv2.

Ok, I used exiv2 to compare a for me working photo and a photo exported with darktable. The photo which gets keywords recognized by online galleries has the keyword embedded in this way:
Iptc.Application2.Keywords String 6 Nature

The darktable exported photo looks like this and don´t get the keywords recognized by online galleries:
Xmp.dc.subject XmpBag 1 Landscape
Xmp.lr.hierarchicalSubject XmpSeq 1 Landscape

It's true, darktable doesn't write IPTC metadata, mostly because it's basically an obsolete standard (I know, there are use cases for it, but this ain't them). To me it sounds more like a bug in your gallery software to not use the XMP tags than a bug in dt. I'll set this as a feature request, maybe some day we will implement IPTC support.

Thank you for accepting this issue as feature request. By the way even big photography related portals like 500px ignoring the xmp keywords while IPTC keywords are recognized.
