I'm trying to control my Nikon D5200 in a tethered session, but the buttons to control the focus (and the zoom) in live view are disabled (please see attached file "screenshot.png". Is this supposed to be working?

Those features are only supported for Canon EOS cameras. Maybe Nikon supports those nowadays, too? Could you check if there is a camera property for zoom and the one called "manualfocusdrive"?

Thanks for the answer. But I don't know where to look for these features?

I also tried it with a Nikon D5500, but with the same result.

By the way, we are looking for a CC0 raw sample from that camera for https://raw.pixls.us/

Currently I don't have the camera with me, but I will provide one soon.

try running gphoto2 --list-all-config and show us the output.

I cannot find zoom, but there is a manualfocusdrive section:

/main/actions/manualfocusdrive
Label: Drive Nikon DSLR Manual focus
Type: RANGE
Current: 0
Bottom: -32767
Top: 32767
Step: 1

I also attach the complete output as config.log.
