Description

Hello,

I'd like to learn and use darktable to process my RAW photo collection.
I see problem with Fujifilm S9600 RAW files converted to DNG.
The original RAF files work without glitch.

This is the output I get:

RawSpeed:Unable to find camera in database: 'FUJIFILM' 'FinePix S9600' 'dng'
Please consider providing samples on <https://raw.pixls.us/>, thanks!
[rawspeed] (2007-11-10--16-32-45.dng) DNG Decoder: Unsupported CFA Layout.
[temperature] failed to read camera white balance information from `2007-11-10--16-32-45.dng'!

For the conversion I used the most current DNGConverter 9.10.1.

This seems to me the re-incarnation of https://redmine.darktable.org/issues/11193 -- though with a different camera model.

While there, please upload the original raf to the https://raw.pixls.us/
Please do read the 'requirements' first.

Any particular reason to do this dng conversion?
I can confirm that such DNG's with non-bayer/non-xtrans CFA's (or non-square) are not supported at the moment.

OK, I'm happy to upload -- though I see there is already an entry with this camera model. Shall I go ahead? Shall I upload the DNG as well?

Back in 2007, when I started using this camera, I used the Fujifilm HS-V2 bundled raw processor wich came with the camera. I have a set of albums, which (unfortanetly) were compressed (raw) with this program. I haven't been able to process these files with any other raw process anymore.

I figured out, that Adobe DNG Converter can read these HS-V2 compressed raw files and can convert to .dng. This is (DNG) now the only way to access these cherished albums.

I saw some raw processors could process these, but I'd like to stick with darktable.
I hope this makes sense.

Yes, and it is not under CC0.

Like i said, yes.

Nope.

Similarly, a sample for "Fujifilm HS-V2" is missing completely.

I see.
Did you keep the original raw's?

Hmm, but once again, that did not really answer why you converted Fujifilm S9600 raws into DNG.

Sorry for the delay...

Unfortunately not for one particular album - though I did keep all other album's original raw's.

My assumption is that conversion to .DNG is 1) lossless (no information loss) 2) common format 3) applies lossless compression, so my digital negatives take half the space 4) converts the HS-V2 compressed album also

I've submitted a sample from Fujifilm FinePix S9600 and since I still have a copy of the HS-V2 I compressed that particular RAF ( now all on raw.pixls.us ).

Let me know how can I help further...

How difficult would be to implement DNG's with non-bayer/non-xtrans CFA's (or non-square)?
