Description

As a recent convert from Windoze and Lightroom, one of the things I miss is the ability to run different 'catalogues' (in the LR parlance) for different bodies of work.
For example, I have within my photos folder, sub-folders for Family, Personal Projects, Commercial work, Test shots, and so forth.
The 'scan for devices' part of the import tool though, determines where it will import images TO, based on the value entered in the 'Preferences/Session options/Base directory naming patterns' field.
If it were possible to make that field remember all previous folder locations*, that would go part of the way toward giving us the ability to quickly change between bodies of work.
You would fire up darktable, go to Preferences/Session options, hit the drop down arrow for that 'Base directory naming pattern' field, select a folder from your history, and you would then be ready to import images straight to that folder structure.
If anyone already has a better way of achieving this kind of workflow, let me know!

  • With either a "Remember x number of locations" preference, or a "clear location history" preference, so that the list did not become unwieldy.

While at it we should re-introduce a tab to edit these setting in the import-from-camera dialog and add it to tethering view. Going to the preferences is cumbersome.
