gphoto2 vers 2.5.10
ubuntu 16.04

env LANG=C gphoto2 --port usb: --capture-tethered

gphoto2 DOES capture image and saves the file to my desktop though it gives and error in terminal, i have tried/searched extensively to figure out but cant, sorry. log attached.

It's hard to tell what actually happens and how to keep it working without access to a Nikon camera that shows such behaviour. Easiest would be to have it fixed upstream in gphoto to not throw an error, anything else would require someone with darktable coding knowledge and the camera to dive into it. :-(

Just wanted to say that I experience the exact same behavior with Ubuntu 16.04 and Nikon D3100. Had no problems with Ubuntu 14.04. If you manage to solve it, please update this issue so we others can get it working as well.
