Description

Hello,

I tried to build a noise profile for the new Lumix DMC-G80/81/85. I am bit concerned by the blue fit of the noise levels, have I done something wrong?

If everything looks fine for you, I will do a noise profile with more ISO levels.
Otherwise, could you give me a good setup to make the profile images? I put a black object next to a wall I lit with a lamp, but I am not really convinced by this setup.

Hi,

Only the green channel is used for calibration, blue fit does not matter. The flat noise levels for ISO 800 and up looks wrong, should be at 1. Can you upload the raw file of P1000877, i want to understand whats going on here.

Hello,

I guess the issue is that the flat noise level for the green channel should stay constant to 1?

I am struggling to find a good setup to make the profile images... do you think that taking a picture of a screen displaying the example of over and underexposed image might work?

I don't konw. I got good results with a lamp the shines into to camera and lighten same foreground.

Dpreview tested the G85/80/81 and they publish their images in jpeg and raw here: https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-g85-g80/6

They provide images in many ISO settings. Maybe these could be used to test / generate the profiles?

I am new to darktable, but I think images should have special properties:

Hi Raphaël,
I might be even newer :-)
You are right, those images are not for good for generating. However, they might work for testing. Also they include a standardised colour map (x-rite) which could come handy at some (other) point.

So, here is a new noise profile. I had some trouble with the presets.json also, I had to replace "DMC-G80" by "DMC-G8" everywhere for darktable to recognize the camera. To me, it looks like that:
  • darktable opens an image of a DMC-G80, but name this camera DMC-G8 internally
  • however, when searching for noise profiles, it searches from DMC-G8 and not DMC-G80...

I did not modified the presets.json given in the attachment.
