Description

I think that color noise in raw files, processed in Darktable is too high. There should be at least some choice between luma noise and chroma noise.
Picture with screens and comparison to Rawtherapee are attached.

Yes, 3 is awful because you don't know how to use darktable so this is comparing apples and oranges. In 3 you have applied both chromatic and luma noise reduction so you have smoothed the image far too much. Please look at the user's manual :)

Heh, I could be wrong, but I think that there is a quite high chance that you could be also :)

I am playing with noise reduction for some time and still I can't see any changes to make photo look better than JPG. But, let us leave words behind and do some work :)

If you or anybody could do NEF looking better than JPG I will be impressed. Tested area is the same, as in https://redmine.darktable.org/attachments/download/2729/noise-dartable-vs-rawtherapee.jpg - which is, left, top corner.

My conclusion is: there is no change to reduce noise and aberrations NEF file, that it could look better than untouched JPG.

Then just use camera JPG :)

Haha, I am doing it right now :)

Indeed, I feel stupid... I was wrong... I have something better than RawTherapee and which is almost in par with the jpeg. Sorry :)

And I did not fix the chromatic aberration, just the noise.

OK, it is closer, but I still prefer JPG :)

I attached gif - it is a comparison of your work with JPG. I know that GIF format is not the best choice :), but anyway it is quite useful.

And ok, I admit that if you spent some time with those photos you could achieve some good results. But for "simple" guys like me, just plain users it is almost impossible to do this. Especially with every single photo.

For me, jpg is a very good choice while working in Darktable.

Serious? The difference I see is just + luminosity and + dark tones. That's all. I did not touch that. Anyway there is nothing wrong with dt here :)

With dt you need to develop your picture. If you don't want use jpeg as Roman said.
