Description

I found a ICC profile for my laptop screen [1] and set it up with xiccd and colord. Darktable and application such as GIMP and Eye of Gnome detect the color profile and display images accordingly. GIMP provides a setting to change the rending intend. Therefore, I know how a specific image [2] looks like with perceptual/relative/absolute colorimetric (noticeable difference between relative and absolute on my screen). Darktable also provides a render intend option in 'output color profile'. However, the image looks the same for all intends!

That intent setting is for exported images. You have to look at the option in the monitor profile popup. Right click the monitor icon in the lower right of lighttable or one of the softproof and gamutcheck icons in darkroom.

That being said, for me intents for exported images never seemed to work but I didn't investigate any further.

thanks, I haven't seen the monitor icon since I minimized the bottom toolbar. I still see no difference between the intends (I see differences when I try different display profile and switch between them). Darktable does not seem to save the choice of display intend: whenever I restart darktable it is set to perceptual

I just pushed a fix to always allow setting the intent on lighttable. However, even then I don't see a difference. It might be due to the profiles I tried.

Great, do you see a difference with different intends in GIMP (Edit -> Preferences -> Color Management)? Personally, I only see a difference between absolute colorimetric and any of the other intends in GIMP.
