Move status bar from header to top toolbar
Header contains program icon and name ("darktable"), number of selected images, number of images in current collection, and list of views ("lighttable | darkroom | tethering | map | slideshow | print"). Someone may toggle header visibility by Ctrl+H.
Most of information shown in the header is static and not so important, so the header can be hidden. I personally hide it quite often.
However, number of selected images is important, because operations are applied to all selected images, while some selected images may be invisible (e. g. in case of large collection which does not fit to the central pane, or in case of large thumbnails).
Thus, it would be nice to move number of selected images from header to the top of central pane, to the left of G, star and gear buttons (which are shown even if header is turned off).
I'll try to attach few pictures to illustrate the proposal.

- % Done changed from 0 to 20
- Status changed from New to Triaged
I agree that it would be nice to have these numbers visible even when the header is collapsed, however, the proposed location won't work, the darktable window is already too big in its minimal size, and that would make it even worse.

Current message is too wordy: "N images of M in current collection is selected". It can be easily shortened to "N of M" or "N/M". Two numbers can be easily put in a row with the [G], star, and gear buttons.
