Bug #11014
selecting region in tone curve module
20%
Description
I only recently happened to select a region that was then highlighted in the tone curves module. Super handy!!!
The only problem is that it is only sometimes possible and I have not been able to find out how to activate this feature and I have not found it in the tone curve section of the manual.
Could you tell me how to enable this feature?
With thanks,
Richard

You mean having the tonal range of a certain image area highlighted in red in the tone curve panel?
This is how it works:
1) you click on the pipette symbol in the tone curve panel to activate the color picker
2) you go to the picker module on the left pane of darktable and switch from "point" to "area" mode
3) you draw the area of interest in the image

Oh wow!! I was completely unaware that the colour picker can do this! Is there a default keybinding for this? I know that it sometimes does it and sometimes doesn't and cannot explain why it has been doing that..
Problem is solved, more questions have been raised.
