Imprecise message on capture failure, suggest change in wording.
As discussed on IRC #darktable.
Used darktable 1.x with a Nikon D60 years ago. Now darktable 1:2.0.0-0pmjdebruijn1 for Ubuntu 14.04 with Nikon D5200.
Darktable connects, recognizes D5200, shows relevant offers settings, but does not capture.
On pressing "capture", OSD reads "please set camera to manual mode first".
Turning the dial to M (manual mode) or other values does not change anything.
On pressing "capture", a picture is captured, or a precise enough message is displayed.
Camera was in quick burst mode. Setting it to single fixes the problem: darktable can capture.Actually, once set to single shot, all of the wheel positions allow darktable to capture:
- P (program),
- S (manual speed),
- A (manual aperture)
- M (manual speed and aperture)
- Auto, flash allowed
- Auto, flash disallowed
So, the "manual mode" wording is not useful in this case.
Suggested wording: "Current camera settings (make and model dependent) do not allow capture. Please adjust for single shot and/or manual mode."

<stephane_> LebedevRI: perhaps "please change settings on the camera itself" to allow darktable to perform settings and capture.
<LebedevRI> i'm not sure just changing words is all that is needed there
<LebedevRI> or maybe the check is broken, as i said, i do not know that code
<stephane_> Ok, so better someone look at the coded before changing text.
