Description

I tried the new RC today on my laptop, a 13.3" 2650x1440 HiDPI display, and unlike the 1.x version, I can't seem to get the application to accommodate my screen either with fullscreening or trying to drag the window borders to fit. Apparently the app has a min width ~1388px, but I'm not so hot on these kinds of limitations. I have scaling for GTK3 apps so they're easier to read on the HiPDI display, but I don't think that this should prohibit my ability to get this app on my screen. I've enclosed a screen cap of the width issue.

Have you forced a dpi setting manually in ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc? It should be set to -1:

$ fgrep dpi_overwrite ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc
screen_dpi_overwrite=-1.0

You may also have the side panel width too high (first setting in the preferences).

Actually a lot of the UI is too large for HiDPI and almost unusably large--particularly the histogram taking up half the vertical space.

Yes, that's set as shown.

The only other setting is the ppd which with that screen should be 1 but maybe you've set 2x scaling.

$ fgrep ppd_overwrite ~/.config/darktable/darktablerc
screen_ppd_overwrite=-1.0

If all of those are correct your scaling settings are probably wrong. You can manually change the dpi one to taste as a workaround.
