Description

I used Darktable while charging my Smartphone Galaxy S3 mini. After having plugged-in the phone, its file system was exposed as an MTP device to the computer. This lead to DT hanging after only a couple of seconds of use. Without watching the console with "darktable -d all", I would have never concluded that the charging smartphone was the reason for the hangs. The situation must be communicated in a better way to the user (or not happen at all).

dt should no longer hang when gphoto2 searches for devices. Could you run dt in gdb, hit ctrl-c when it freezes and give us a backtrace to see where it is stuck?

I cannot reproduce the problem anymore. Instead, I see "Samsung Galaxy models (MTP)" in the Import module. So I think the problem does not exist in Git master anymore.
