Description

Please add support for Panasonic Lumix DMC-G70 (DMC-G7)
I am running Darktable (Ubuntu 14.04), Darktable Release PPA, version 1.6.7

I tried to attached sample images for each aspect ratio (1:1, 16:9, 3:2, 4:3), but always get an error when uploading (size per file is less than 39.1 mb).

So, here's a download link for the raw files (zip file containing all 4 images, hope the link works):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-vTcStrQ9HxRzA1cE84Y1dYMnc/view?usp=sharing

I will also upload sample images to rawsamples.ch later.

The DMC-G70 is identical to the DMC-G7, it's just the name used for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (according to any Camera review in germany, eg. http://www.digitalkamera.de/Meldung/Panasonic_praesentiert_Lumix_DMC-G7_G70_als_Nachfolgemodell_der_G6/9521.aspx). I have seen the G7 (4:3) was added recently to camera.xml after the 1.6.7 release.

In case there is anything left i can do to help let me know.

Thanks
Guido

Thanks, this is indeed an alias for the G7. Support was added in this commit:

https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/commit/866e8f0d0a4e95810afce8cfac3a07475f93b3c3

It was also ported back into the 1.6.x branch so should be out whenever 1.6.8 comes out. This has also added support for the missing modes of the G7 so thanks for that as well.

If you're up to it you could also shoot one sample per white balance preset so we can add those presets to the white balance module. There are a few other things that can be added for camera support as well if you want to help with them. Here's some resources on that:

I made a new set of pictures for the white balance presets, zip file containing the 7 presets (Auto, Cloudy, Daylight, Flash, Incandescent, Shade, Kelvin (at 2500)). I did not include the manual presets as i did not yet play around with them. All unchanged factory standard.

I also checked http://www.darktable.org/2012/10/whats-involved-with-adding-support-for-new-cameras/ . For the color matrix, I downloaded the Adobe DNG Converter (windows exe seems to run under wine) but it can't handle the DMC-G70 / G7 images (if i change the model name to G6 via exiftool it does something, though i think the result is not useful).
If there is anything else i can do let me know.

Thanks
Guido

Thanks. The Auto and Kelvin ones aren't really presets but the others are helpful. We already have the matrix, and the latest adobe DNG converter reads these files just fine. The only other things that could be added are a custom matrix and a noise profile but those are definitely less common.

The WB presets have been commited:

https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/commit/0c5c86d55f8006d853e1156ead509e4bd639f4e8

They've also been backported to 1.6.x so whenever 1.6.8 comes out the support for these cameras should be pretty good so I'll close the bug report. Thanks for the help.
