Description

Import images with 'import' - 'folder', select 'add metadata during import' and put e.g. ort|oesterreich|wien in the Tags-field: the hierarchical tag is not imported but simply ignored!

Darktable 1.6.6 in Linux Mint LMDE (Linux zeus 3.13.0-37-generic #64-Ubuntu SMP Mon Sep 22 21:28:38 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

Hmm, works for me. Does it work when using simple tags (i.e., without a '|'?)

Yes, without the '|' the tag is imported.

After trying to assign the hierarchical tag during import, do you see it being mentioned in the gui-tab of the preferences?

Ok, I found out that when importing pictures the first time the hierarchical tags get assigned, only when "reimporting" pictures a second time (which I often do because I'm migrating 15k+ pictures to darktable and experiment with different methods of preserving the IPTC-tags) darktable ignores the hierarchical tags during import.

And Tobias, after a "reimport" when the tags do not get assigned to the pictures, I do see these tages in the gui-tag of the preferences.

Does this make sense?

What do you mean with "reimport"? Are these just images that had been in darktable's database before and now have an XMP file, or are those already in the database when you run the import?
