Description

Please see attached 3 ORF files. All are native ORF files which have been modified by Exiftool to shift exif date.
Two of them have vertical layout files (cw 90 and cw 270), the last one has an horizontal layout.

When importing the three files into DT, the "vertical" ones are displayed as "image not available" (and a "dead head" thumbnail) and the "vertical" one is displayed correctly (i.e. with its thumbnail). On the console I have :

[rawspeed] Error reading TIFF structure. Unknown Type 0x188e encountered.
[rawspeed] Error reading TIFF structure. Unknown Type 0x3e9d encountered.

When I try to open this "horizontal" file into darkroom, DT hangs. It seems to loop since the process run with 20% cpu usage on my config. The memory usage seems to increase slowly. On the console I have a third message :

[rawspeed] Error reading TIFF structure. Unknown Type 0x7a8d encountered.

I kill the process and I restart. This time the three files are imediately displayed with the "dead head" thumbnail. But trying to open it into darkroom hang again DT.

Same here. I had a few ORF files with the wrong date (displayed no problem the first time) but then I changed the orientation and got the dead heads and loops as described above (for the vertical ones where I changed the orientation). Rawtherapee has no problems with these (just checked) so I'm pretty sure the ORFs are still OK.

  • System changed from Ubuntu to all
  • % Done changed from 0 to 100
  • Target version set to Candidate for next minor release
  • Status changed from New to Fixed

This particular issue has been fixed against my better judgement. We've made it abundantly clear that editing raw files is an extremely bad idea, don't expect similar issues to be fixed in the future.

OK for me. I was trying to fix my clumsyness about not checking my camera date/time before shooting.
As a workaround I converted these ORF to DNG and the resulting DNG works fine with DT.
