Darktable git master (our development branch) already supports basic RAW loading (including proper whitebalance) for the Sony-A850. This will be included in the next major release of Darktable.

Tethering support for any particular camera mostly depends on the version of libgphoto you have (and whether your camera is supported by that particular version of gphoto at all). Aside from that tethering is more or less an orphaned subsystem, currently we have nobody to actively work on it.

You can generate noise profiles like so, feel free to reopen this issue and submit a noise profile if you have one that works well for you (please don't forget to include the generated PDFs as well).
